Fillings At Parker Family Dental
A dental filling is required when a tooth has decay or is chipped. The decayed tooth structure is removed and the filling is placed. The filling can be placed on 1 to 5 tooth surfaces depending on the amount of damaged tooth structure. The number of surfaces filled is how the cost of the filling is determined.
- White fillings These fillings are made of a composite resin which is tooth colored. In some cases, porcelain is inlayed into the tooth for a longer lasting result.
- Amalgam (silver) fillings These fillings are dark in color and made of an alloy. They are often used in the back teeth and are the original silver fillings that most people had as a kid.
