Implant Restoration At Parker Family Dental
Dental implants are a wonderful option for patients who have a missing tooth. It’s done under local anesthetic in the office and usually by an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist. A titanium piece is placed in the bone to replace the missing tooth root. Healing time is usually 4-6 months. During healing, a temporary can be worn if the tooth is in a cosmetic area. In some cases, a temporary crown can be placed on the implant the same day as the surgery. After healing, two additional pieces are placed on top of the implant to restore the tooth to function. The crown is the piece that makes the implant look like a tooth. Many different materials can be used for this step depending on the cosmetic demands of the patient. Failures can occur in implants but are uncommon.
